BIOGRAPHY

It all started with a Square Dance course that I took in 1988 with the Cart-Wheeler SDC.

I am one of the founder members of the Yukon Tramps and Drivers in Dinslaken.
Up until 1992 I "only danced" and as there was no Plus course offered like a "Lamb to the slaughter" I came to the microphone and tried myself out as a Square Dance Caller.

I muddled along with the Yukons and always said that I would rather dance as I wanted to have "fun". Eventually I also had fun calling.
It was not always easy to find 8 people who wanted to dance to my calls.

Practice, practise, practice was what was required. Eventually I had some success.

I needed a little rest from calling during the years 2000 and 2003, and the "Jamie Lee Ward Band" took up a large part of my schedule. Rumours were spreading, "Astrid isn't calling anymore!" - time and time again I have to say "No, No, never have I wanted to give up Square Dancing or Calling". At times when things haven't been going too well, Square Dancing has always helped me to forget my worries, problems and illness.

Now I am back! The largest part of my free time belongs to the Square Dance World.

Since 1996 I have been Club Caller to the "Roman Sandals" in Xanten, and also call for the "Yukon Tramps and Drivers" in Dinslaken. Sometimes I call for other clubs in the region.

I am very proud that since the beginning of June 2003 I belong to the Staff Callers with SNOW!
As I am the first lady caller with SNOW some people call me "SNOWwhite".

Furthermore I wish all Square Dancers and Callers a lot of fun with our hobby.
