BIOGRAPHY

Ralf was born in 1962 in Siegen, grew up in Erndtebrück, Bruchsal, and Hilchenbach. He studied Statistics in Dortmund and is working as researcher in the field of Medical Statistics and Epidemiology.

In the late 80's and early 90's he learned his first square dance steps in a folk dance group at the University of Bochum. After some seeking he found contact to square dance groups: the "Gemener Burgtänzer" in Borken and the Hannover Hearties (he worked in Hannover for two years). The Gemener Burgtänzer also offered caller seminars with Thorsten Geppert and Joachim Rühenbeck. Ralf joined several seminars and started a square dance group in Bochum, which was the birth of the Lucky Moonlight Dancers Bochum (1992).

Due to his work Ralf moved several times and lived in different cities. Thus, he was able to call for several square dance clubs, especially in North Rhine1 Westphalia and the Rhein-Main area. He is currently calling for the Blueberries Siegerland SDC (another club established by Ralf in 1998), the Crossing Swords Solingen and the Colonia Swingers SRDC on a regular basis. He taught over 15 MS square dance classes for different clubs.

Ralf started to call Plus in 2005, but his main interest is still the MS program. He is an active member of ECTA and CALLERLAB. His main activities in these associations are given by contributions to the corresponding MS committees and the MS definitions committee, which started to redefine the complete MS program in 2001.

Ralf was MC for a number of Special Dances and had the opportunity to call with outstanding callers e.g. Joachim Rühenbeck, Thorsten Geppert, Stefan Förster, Johnny Preston, Kenny Reese and others. He established several Special Dances which are still active, for instance

• the Candlelight Party in Bochum
• the Johnny Preston Special Club Nights (in Bochum and Kreuztal)
• the Annual Blueberries Christmas Dance

Ralf is very pleased that he got the opportunity to produce a singing call with SNOW Records. Good music is an essential part of dancing. Ralf practices various kinds of dances, but he says: Square dancing to good music is my absolute favourite - brings fun, feeling and friendship. Take it easy!
