If I fold my arms and look serious, can I pretend to be in charge?
- Listening to the original track (that's Paul Bristow standing,
arms folded "my job is to press the buttons on the CD player")
|

So - tell me where exactly are the Bass notes on this one..?
- David Smith (Bass Guitar player - on the chair) shares a thought with Rob Hojacos (Fiddle player - on the floor).
|

10 across - top record company, rhymes with string and stow?
- Mike Douchette (Harmonica player) a really nice guy. His
father, who is 92 years old, wrote the song "Be-Bop-a-Lula"!
|

Okay I've rosined up my bow with "faded love" so now I'll play
- Rob Hojacos (Fiddle player) an absolute genius. Like all really talented people - great to work with and a great sense of humour.
|

Playing the Dobro in this shot (also our "Steel"man) is the top
talent - Doug Jernigan. Doug sets the standards to which the
other Steel and Dobro players aspire - although my saying that
would probably embarrass the "heck" out of him!
|

The man at the mixing desk controls - engineer and studio owner Kevin McManus. It was truly incredible to watch as his hands flew over the various buttons, sliders and controls. In many ways, Kevin was the ninth (..er tenth and eleventh?) musician!
|

The "band" (Days 'n' Nights) at the end of day one - from the left: Tommy Wells (Drums and Percussion), Gregg
Galbraith (Bandleader and all Electric Guitars), Bruce Watkins (acoustic Guitar and Banjo), Doug Jernigan Ssteel and Dobro),
David Smith (Bass Guitar), Mike Douchette (Harmonica), Rob Hojacos (Fiddle) and - standing behind Rob - Roger
Morris (Piano and Keyboards).

The following short movie clips will give you an idea of the studio and the music-making process and just a "taste"
of some of the new songs…
listening to the first track "Strangers In The Night" - to get the "feel" of the song and figure out which notes to play!
( view movie ).
and this is how it sounds (well two small parts) when played by the band!
( view movie #1 ) and ( view movie #2 ).
l"The Motown Song" - a glimpse of another new track (again two "snatches").
( view movie #1 ) and ( view movie #2 ).
can you name that tune? It's "Bridge Over Troubled Water, the Simon and Garfunkel original version. You also see a
glimpse of Rob Hojacos, talking with Bruce Watkins; Bruce actually plays almost all the instruments that we were using
and can be heard playing on many New Country releases, including Fiddle on several Alabama tracks.
( view movie ).
and here's "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" in SD form..!
( view movie ).
the band listening to the Bryan Adams' song "Summer Of '69". The shot pans around to
show Kevin talking to Rob - obviously sharing something "important" - possibly a "technical" issue?
( view movie ).
