| STING AND SNOW PRODUCTIONS - APRIL 2008 NEWS-LETTER |
In March came Easter - the earliest date for this festival, for one hundred years (or so I read, somewhere…). As a "moveable feast", Easter is a strange date
on any calendar - it was a standard originally set by the church, in the days before a worldwide calendar came into being and is the first Sunday after the
first fourteenth day of the moon (the Paschal Full Moon) that is on or after the ecclesiastical vernal equinox. So - on that basis - could you now determine
when Easter will be for, say, the next ten years?
Quite a few Square dance festivals are held at Easter and consequently many other events that are usually set on specific weekends have to "adjust". This year
we had snow at Easter and this made me wonder if we could re-use some of the "Christmas" tunes; "Let It Snow", "Winter Wonderland", maybe even "Easter Times
a-coming"? However, we are now in April a nice easy month with no odd festivals… except next year - when it includes Easter!
As I write this newsletter, I am still waiting to hear how things went at the "Music Producers" meeting, held at this year's CALLERLAB. My hope is that - by
working together - the Music Producers will be able to face up to the problems in the market, appreciate the implications and the potential of the future and
be prepared and able to rise up to these challenges, in order to continue with the production of new music.
I will keep you informed…

Okay, now I have to take a little time out to watch as my family consumes several "Easter Eggs", a fascinating spectacle, in which I shall not be partaking -
if my waist gets any larger I will never be able to fit into those expensive (but necessary) "western style" trousers (I am already having some difficulty
"bending down")! I will "speak" with you on the next NewsLetter (which - unless I can stay away from the Easter Eggs - may have to be typed standing up)…
Go Squareful! - Paul Bristow (Owner and Producer Sting and Snow Records)
