| STING AND SNOW PRODUCTIONS - AUGUST 2006 NEWS-LETTER |
August - Caesar's (other) month (as you may recall)… I am writing this from the centre of - what feels like - a baker's oven! The summer
heat has become "relentless", even the tar on our streets is melting! Last month I asked you to send ice cubes to an English man; before
it's too late; I am afraid that many of us have already melted… Thanks to those of you who did respond, now all that we need to develop
is a refrigerated envelope!
The BIG NEWS this month is that our industrious web-master, Carsten Nielsen, has finally manged to overcome the problems that we have
always had with "other browsers". As you will be aware, our web-site is set up to work with Internet Explorer and - if you are using
another browser - the drop-down menus that are required to access our site do not always work.
Carsten has "built" a site-navigator link that you can use to access all parts of our web-site, without needing the drop-down menus! This
link is located on our homepage, towards the bottom, above the address details. If you know of anyone who has stopped accessing our site,
because of browser problems, we would be very much obliged if you could pass on this news to them!
Now for the other news:
BEST SELLER LISTING:
Our June Releases took both the No.5 and No.6 spots on the combined Hanhurst's/Palomino best-seller listing on the dosado.com web-site.
The results were: No.5 for "Good Morning Starshine" and No.7 for the double instrumental, hoedown/patter record
"Tip-Top / Rock-Bottom"- a great achievement!
NEW RELEASES:
Our new vinyl releases for August are: - the Jeff Beck disco-party song "Hi-Ho, Silver Lining" (vocal by
Paul Bristow) and the Peter, Paul and Mary song "Where Have All The Flowers Gone?" vocal by
Kenny Reese, with The Silver Snow-Belles, featuring Meike Wambold on the vocal harmonies
(vocal harmonies, on the instrumental, are available on the CD/MP3 release only).
SPECIAL RE-RELEASE:
As I mentioned last month, we have located the original pressing plates for some of our oldest tunes and - as a consequence - this month,
we are able to "re-release" our very first Patter Record, on Snow - SNW 501 "Snow / Flake". Once again we have had many requests
to re-release this tune and are very pleased to be able to make these tracks available to the next generation of dancers and callers!
MP3/CD RELEASES:
Our August releases are - "Nobody" (vocal by Paul Bristow) and "Hot Stuff" (vocal by
Neil Whiston) - visit the Listen To The Music link on the web-site, to hear and/or buy this on the Sting and Snow
page at Hanhurst's Tape and Record Service.
INDIVIDUAL RECORD HISTORIES including ALL THE ADDITIONAL LYRICS:
As all the previously released records have now been covered, this month's history sheet features our newest singing call releases: Hi-Ho,
Silver Lining and Where Have All The Flowers Gone?
