| STING AND SNOW PRODUCTIONS - JANUARY 2008 NEWS-LETTER |
The First month of a new year and with it comes the chance to renew and refresh our approach to all the things that we hold dear, amongst these will - no doubt
- be Square Dancing and (hopefully) a marked decision to try and buy a few more pieces of new music - we STILL need to sell as much as we can!
I sincerely hope that all of you enjoyed a great Holiday Season and that you are feeling the warmth of that most precious time of year. Amongst my Christmas
presents, this year was a CD album entitled "Garth Brooks, the Ultimate Hits". This is a super collection of GB's music, featuring most of his greatest
tracks, together with a few new ones, on 2 CDs. Also included is a DVD containing 33 of the videos (and some live performances) of his biggest hits.
However there was one thing that I found that was very relevant to the music that we produce on Sting and Snow. As I have mentioned before, we use several of
the players that Garth has featured on his recordings and he takes the time to mention all of them in the sleeves notes on this album. Amongst the musicians,
a few have there names printed in bold text, which indicates that they played on all his albums - one of these; Rob Hojacos - is the guy who plays the fiddle
on the majority of our recordings; it was nice to see hid name picked out.
Also, in the sleeve notes, Garth makes special mention of the people he has known who have passed on to their reward; amongst these he mentions Terry McMillan
- who played Harmonica and Percussion, on almost all of the Sting and Snow recordings. Garth makes the following statement: "You are a talent unequalled.
The brightest stars burn the fastest". Having known Terry, I wanted to share this epithet with you as I felt it to be most appropriate.
