STING AND SNOW PRODUCTIONS - NOVEMBER 2008 NEWS-LETTER

Last month I stated that October is a fairly "unexciting" month… I guess that I should not have "tempted fate"! As it turned out, October has proved to be a real "head-spinner" for me; so much has happened, too much to report on here - but - if you want to find out about it, just wait until I publish the first volume of my memoirs… When you get your copy, turn straight to the chapter for October 2008 and you will discover all of the fantastic things that occurred for me during that time - it's still causing my "jaw to drop", just thinking about it!

Of course the main purpose of this page is to provide news about Sting and Snow Records and our music and - with that thought in mind - I have to report a little bad news…

As the sales are still falling and as a consequence of a recent, unanticipated, rise in costs, we have been forced to make a "sacrifice" and lose one of our more emblematic - albeit primarily "cosmetic" - features, we are no longer able to offer printed sleeves on vinyl releases. The facts are that sales are down overall but the greatest reduction is in vinyl sales, which is where the highest production costs occur; vinyl production costs have just increased. By foregoing the printed sleeves, we can make a saving on vinyl production almost equivalent to the income from 25 record sales; this will help compensate for the loss in income. However, although there will be no more printed sleeves, we will be including printed insert sheets with all vinyl recordings - so all is not lost!

This is another clear sign that "all is not well" with new music production - BUT we shall keep going for as long as we can…
